The US boat market is in its second year of decline, dealer pipelines are lean, Ferretti has cut its profit guidance twice since July, and the superyacht order book has shrunk for the first time since the pandemic. Underneath that weather, the technology is moving: Brunswick's Simrad AutoCaptain docks boats by camera and software, Kraken Robotics has become a C$1.4 billion subsea-autonomy group after buying Covelya, Garmin's marine unit grew 16% on sonar, and Sanlorenzo runs hotel loads on a methanol fuel cell.
This report walks the eight names on the First Look marine watchlist with their latest filed numbers, cash and debt, guidance and technology programmes, then sets them against two scale references (Brunswick and Garmin), the NMMA retail data, the BOAT International order book and the charter-market estimates. It ends with what has actually shipped under the label 'AR on the water': one 2018 product and a family of camera-overlay docking aids.
Two of the eight (Ocean Power Technologies and Vision Marine) carry going-concern language and trade at market values under $5 million after reverse splits; they are on the list because of what they build, and this report says plainly what their filings say. Nothing here is a recommendation, and no company has paid for its place.
- Ferretti cut FY2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance a second time on 27 October to €174–185M (from €186–197M in July and €203–210M in May); nine-month order intake was down 13.8% and Americas intake about 40%; the CEO called the Americas problems 'self-cooked'.
- Brunswick's Q3 (29 October) beat its own plan: sales +6.9%, adjusted EPS +63%, FY2026 EPS guidance raised to about $4.65; US retail down 4.1% year to date; pipelines about 900 units below last year; Saxdor (Malibu) became the first outside OEM to fit AutoCaptain.
- Kraken Robotics guides FY2026 revenue to C$290–320M and adjusted EBITDA to C$65–75M after closing the C$615M Covelya (Sonardyne) acquisition on 2 July; stand-alone Q2 revenue was C$27.3M at a 59% gross margin.
- Garmin's marine segment made $309.9M in Q3 2026, up 16%, at a 30% operating margin; Sanlorenzo kept FY2026 guidance with €1.5bn of backlog and 18% order growth; Malibu guides FY2027 sales to $1.08–1.12bn and a market 'flat to down'.
- Ocean Power Technologies: Q1 FY2027 revenue $1.7M, net loss $10.5M, cash $7.4M against $8.1M of convertibles, going-concern 'substantial doubt' in the 10-K, a 1-for-30 reverse split, a strategic review, and a non-binding LOI to power offshore edge-AI data centres by wave energy.
- Vision Marine: three reverse splits in 2026 leave about 653,000 shares; cash $0.8M; 'material uncertainty' on going concern; a proposed reverse takeover by an unnamed defence-autonomy firm would leave current holders with about 2.9%; the 15 October definitive-agreement target passed without an announcement we could find.
- Shipped AR at the helm is thin: Raymarine ClearCruise AR (2018) is the only established product; AutoCaptain, Garmin Surround View and Avikus NeuBoat are machine vision with camera overlays. No digital-twin product has shipped at any of the ten companies.
